New Monitoring for Wangaratta Private Hospital
Wangaratta Private Hospital has just extended its patient monitoring
capability with the purchase of 4 additional patient monitors.
Director of Clinical Services Ms Sheryl Kier says “the
increase in surgical and medical patient admissions of a more
complex nature highlighted the need to expand the patient monitoring
capabilities within the hospital”.
The hospital recently purchased 4 additional Dash Monitors,
the features of which have enabled the hospital to have a portable
monitoring solution capable of meeting a wide range of acuity
demands. The features include ECG, pulse oximetry, noninvasive
blood pressure, temperature, respiration. Invasive monitoring
modules have also been incorporated into the system.
“The purchase, valued at over $50,000 will assist Wangaratta
Private Hospital in providing a higher level of care for the
community of Wangaratta”, Ms Lewis stated.
Previously the 4 bed High Dependency Unit had the capacity to
monitor 2 patients. The recent purchase has expanded that to
all High Dependency beds, plus an additional 2 step down beds.
To ensure continuity of care all 6 beds are networked to a central
monitor within the unit, however the systems advanced capabilities
enable the lightweight monitors to be used as a portable system
also. This gives the flexibility to reliably move a patient throughout
the entire hospital, or to move the monitor to another area of
need.
