How to Refer a Patient
For a General Practitioner to have a patient admitted to Wangaratta
Private Hospital they must either refer to a specialist or obtain
admitting rights with the hospital.
In order to obtain admitting rights at Wangaratta Private Hospital
please contact the Executive Office on 03 5722 2678 to obtain
an application form and a copy of the hospitals By-laws.
Admitting to Wangaratta Private Hospital
Specialist
consulting suites are supplied with Admission Kits and Patient
Information Brochures which you are able to supply
to your patients following consultation. For elective admissions,
the completed kit may be returned to the hospital by either your
rooms or by the patient. Admissions staff then processes the
kit and the patient is booked in. Patients will be contacted
by the hospital with their admission details and given a quote
for any out of pocket costs
For non-elective admissions, the hospital may be called on 03
5723 0950 to determine bed availability and to give the patient
details including:
- Name
- Date of Birth
- Diagnosis
- Insurance/Fund/Payment details
- Requirement for an operating theatre
All patients will be required to present insurance details,
show proof of Work Cover approval or if self-insured
pay the estimated
cost of their stay prior to admission.
The operating suites are covered by an on-call service
after hours and are available for emergency surgery
by the mutual
convenience of the surgeon, the anaesthetist and
the operating suite staff.
